Things you may or may not want to know about me – Meg Sorick!
I don’t normally accept nominations for awards mostly because I feel terrible trying to pass on the nominations to other busy peeps. But once in a while I’ll make an exception. The partners A and B at Inner Ramblings Boulevard have tossed me a Liebster and I’ve decided to play along, but I won’t nominate anyone else. However, if you find these questions intriguing and you want to answer for yourself, consider that my nomination.
I’ve known ‘B’ longer than I’ve known ‘A’. ‘B’ is a writer, poet, lyricist with a real sense for music and lyrics. I’ve no doubt that given the right eyes on his work, he could be a successful songwriter. Hear that? Anybody know who to talk to?
‘A’ has some pretty awesome writing skills, too. A different flavor from ‘B’ but that makes for a nice balance between the two partners. She is positive and encouraging, having come through some serious life experiences and not only survived but thrived. Rock on my lady!

1. What was the scariest moment in your life?
I was in a terrifying car accident in 2014. A woman ran a stop sign and pulled into the road in front of me. It happened so fast, I didn’t even have time to apply the brakes. I was traveling at about 50 miles an hour at the time, so not a fender bender by any stretch. My car was totaled but unbelievably, I walked away without a scratch.
2. What or who inspires your writing?
Oh lots of things! Art, music, history, nature, personal experience…
3. How have you overcome writers block?
Booze. Just kidding. Actually, if I can’t write, I read. You refocus when you read. Get your mind off your plot and problems and read someone else’s stories or poetry.
4. Are you published, would you like to be published?
I am published. I write a series called The Bucks County Novels. The fourth book is out today! The books are set in the region where I live: Bucks County Pennsylvania, about an hour north of Philadelphia. The series is built around group of friends with an ever widening circle of characters. They are romantic suspense with a touch of humor. I hope you’ll check them out.
5. What do you think is your best poem or short story?
Best poem: Just Burn, because I wrote it with the emotions so very close to the surface at the time. Best short story: Weather Is Here because it features two of my characters from my novel universe and I wrote it from the male point of view, which was fun!
6. What’s your favorite novel?
I’m going to give you three of my favorites because its hard to pick just one. Dune by Frank Herbert. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas and Robison Crusoe by Daniel Dafoe.
7. If you could meet an author who would you meet?
PD James, Sharon Kay Penman and Rosamund Pilcher
8. If you were trapped on an island what three items would you have?
A satellite phone, a toothbrush and War and Peace because I could force myself to finally read it while the rescue ship was on the way.
9. What is one thing in the world you’d like to change?
Everything? That’s not an answer… Really there are too many things to pick just one.
10. How long have you been writing?
I’ve been writing since I was about eight years old. I was given a journal for a gift that year and I started recording my personal stories in it. I kept going through high school and college and then hung it up for a while for life, career, yada, yada, until about 3 years ago when I decided to shake some of these stories from my head!
That’s it! Thanks again to my friends at Inner Ramblings Boulevard! And for more of my writing, visit my Author Page!
