Out of Reach

I idly sit and watch from my throne of inertia
While the bridges I so carefully built
Are thoroughly and systematically destroyed
And with them, the pathways are forever cut off,
Leaving one side of the shore isolated from the other
Except for the occasional stone you throw
Which lands harmlessly at my feet
It’s as if the tectonic plates have shifted beneath us
And earth itself has put me beyond your reach

Le Boulangerie – Shuttered

I cannot go on like this, trying to bake every week… AND write about it. (Sounds melodramatic, doesn’t it?) Besides I think my blog has become a bit of a mess. Baking, sketching, occasional photography and writing. It’s too random even though I’ve tried to keep it thematic. This is supposed to be my author platform and I’ve gotten off purpose. With that in mind, I’m shuttering Le Boulangerie and concentrating my energies in actually finishing this book, editing and developing some other story ideas. My art and photography, I will mostly use to accompany my writing. Time to collect the pieces of my scattered brain and arrange them in some sort of order. *she says with hope but little conviction*

Song a Day (5)

Five days ago, my friend Beach tagged me for ‘a song a day’ challenge. Today is the last day. The rules are to post the lyrics of a favorite song five days in a row, explain what they mean to you (if you like) and add the video if available. I’ve suspended nominations because, because, because…

I finish with this song because it reminds me of all the friends I’ve lost touch with over the years. I wonder where everyone landed. I thought about adding a little slide show after the lyrics:  me with my friends misbehaving back in the day.  I even went so far as to load them in. And I changed my mind after I did it. My friend Kurt looked so young in the photo of us together. We were 21, in our last year of college, our future bright and shining before us, running around New York City having the time of our lives. It just made me sad…

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don’t ask why
It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in time
It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right
I hope you had the time of your life

So take the photographs, and still-frames in your mind
Hang them on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoo’s of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it’s worth, it was worth all the while
It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right
I hope you had the time of your life

It’s something unpredictable, but in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life
It’s something unpredictable, but in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life
